Ponant to Debut New Smithsonian Expeditions in Antarctica in 2023
By: James Shillinglaw, Jun 23, 2022
Ponant is once again collaborating with Smithsonian Journeys on a series of co-branded sailings for 2023. Each of the 21 itineraries will be led by two Smithsonian Journeys experts—whether an art historian, a solar astrophysicist or an international relations expert, whose expertise and knowledge will shed new light on a destination and deepen travelers’ immersion in place.
Among the new sailings is a 12-day polar expedition cruise to the Antarctic Peninsula, Feb. 20-March 3, 2023. Experts include Michelle Thaller, assistant director for science communication at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center; and Peter Bobrowsky, a geologist and archaeologist with more than four decades of experience of fieldwork in locations across the globe, including World Heritage sites such as Machu Picchu and Petra.
Israel Ministry of Tourism Earmarks $49 Million in Grants for New Hotels
By: James Shillinglaw, Jun 23, 2022
To celebrate a boom in tourism following the pandemic, Israel's Ministry of Tourism and the Investment Administration announced 107 entrepreneurs have applied for grants from the Ministry of Tourism to establish new hotels. Investors are seeking to establish and convert existing buildings to hotels and expand existing buildings or restore them to their original purpose. The Israel Ministry of Tourism has earmarked $49 million in grants to support plans for the establishment of new properties.
“There is a great deal of optimism and interest among the tourism industry,” said Israel Minister of Tourism Yoel Razvozov. “This year, we broke the record for the number of grant requests for opening new hotels in Israel, with over 100 applications submitted. The Israel Ministry of Tourism continues to invest vast efforts in increasing incoming tourism traffic to Israel and shortening the amount of time it takes to build hotels. This will inject billions of shekels into the state coffers.”
The Israel Ministry of Tourism is working to restore incoming tourism traffic to Israel and for the industry’s recovery following the crisis. Despite the effects of the pandemic, progress has been registered in both planning new hotel projects and in building projects that were planned before the outbreak of the pandemic. The ministry said it continues to work to realize the potential inherent in hotel investments, to increase the number of tourists and, as a result, to increase revenue from tourism to the economy. An early career in hospitality management, event planning, commercial real estate and franchise consulting gave me 20+ years of proficiency in B2B corporate sales. I have spent the last 10 years in the franchise industry, the last few years as a IFPG Franchise Consultant which has led to my current passion as a Cruise Consultant and Franchisee with Cruise Planners.
Corporate Leaders are starting to think outside of the box (or, in this instance, outside of the hotel’s conference room), and choosing unique venues for their annual conferences and events. Conferences and events have traditionally been held at hotels and resorts in cities or travel destinations, but now event planners are getting creative by offering more memorable experiences designed to really bring people together.
Servicing clients since 1994, Cruise Planners is an award-winning company and is the largest home-based travel franchise company in the country. There has never been a better time for franchisors to partner with a professional travel advisor, who will bridge the gap between their re-emergence into the world of conventions and the many daily travel industry updates and protocols. As an added value, Cruise Planners is an Official American Express Travel Representative which allows them to provide additional member benefits.
